•Share rich literature as a class, it is
common to use great picture books but be sure to also read non-fiction
articles, poetry, short stories, etc.
•Students do not listen passively, but are
involved and given opportunity to discuss their thinking
•Builds community and gives the class
common texts for future discussion
•Keep a running list of shared texts
